In early 2024, I wrote the first two chapters of The Quantum Mixtape. These chapters weren’t just theoretical—they were born from a moment that changed how I see the music industry.

A decade ago, in the Sony Wikileaks era, I came across internal memos that revealed the underpinnings of a global music label’s strategy. That moment sparked an idea: what would the future of the music industry look like if technology, sustainability, and creativity were at the center?

The first two chapters of The Quantum Mixtape reflect that starting point:

  1. Sony Music Strategy Analysis: 2014-2024
A deep dive into how one of the world’s largest music labels has navigated the last decade, uncovering key moves and lessons from their strategy.
  2. Sony Music 2034 Radical Strategy: A Proposal
Imagining a bold, reimagined strategy for the next decade, driven by technology, direct-to-fan models, and sustainability.

Writing these chapters was about more than recounting history—it was about starting a conversation on where the industry is headed.

Now, it’s time to expand that conversation.

The Focus of the Next Three Chapters

The next part of the book will explore ideas that push the boundaries of what’s possible:

  1. BCIs in Music
How Brain-Computer Interfaces are changing the way music is created and consumed. Imagine composing a song just by thinking it. This chapter will also tackle the ethical challenges of using brain-data in creative work.
  2. Quantum Computing in Real-Time Performances
Quantum randomness is redefining live performances and evolving musical compositions. This chapter will explore how musicians are using quantum technology to create experiences that are never the same twice.
  3. Climate Change and Resource Scarcity
Streaming, vinyl, and global tours have environmental consequences. This chapter examines how the industry is addressing its carbon footprint and rethinking sustainability.

These chapters aren’t just technical—they’re about offering a roadmap for artists and creators navigating a rapidly evolving industry.

A New Model for Publishing The Quantum Mixtape

You can access the full version of The Quantum Mixtape as a member or a newsletter subscriber.

This isn’t about exclusivity—it’s about rethinking distribution.

A few consider this a bold approach, especially when you think about book publishing.

Through weekend.network, we’re using modern technology to support independent publishing. This model prioritizes ownership and shared success, giving readers and contributors a stake in the growth of their favorite creators.

By signing up for the newsletter or contributing ideas and recommendations, you’ll not only gain early access to the next three chapters but also become part of a system that shares profits and amplifies creators.

This isn’t just about selling books—it’s about reimagining how creators and audiences connect, support, and grow together.

As a subscriber, you’ll have early access to the next three chapters as we release them, you can meet the co-authors and join us live as we go deep with founders that bring us up close and personal to the bleeding edge of what's happening.

So, what's new is your ability to be a part of the creation process and even contribute as a supporter of transparent ownership models and future music economy.

Where can you start?

I’ve shortlisted a couple of co-authors, and they bring deep experience and new perspectives from the music industry, but your input is just as important.

Here’s how you can shape this book:

  1. Recommend a project, person, or idea that deserves attention.
  2. Share what you’d want to see explored in these next chapters.

Your ideas could spark a new perspective or uncover a story that needs to be told.

This will be good if you are considering starting a music career, sign up for the newsletter to gain early access and be part of this journey.

What’s Next

We’re planning to release the updated version of the book, with these next three chapters, in late 2025.

This is the The Quantum Mixtape—so, we should be bold and run this experiment in rethinking how stories are told, distributed, and amplified.

If you have recommendations, ideas, or simply want to stay in the loop, drop me a message or subscribe to the newsletter.

Let’s create something that doesn’t just reflect the future of music but shapes it.

Warmly,
Alet Viegas
